Pos-combustion air and cooling air blowing systems for the aftercombustion chamber
The project we were commissioned with had two aims:
– to increase the extraction efficiency of combustible gases (including CO) escaping from the electric furnace. These gases were designed to be afterburned.
– to make an extraction system from loading trolleys for alloyed additives to reduce dust and to use the extracted gases to cool the afterburned gases.
As part of the afterburning gas installation, the flow simulation and modernization of the hood over the electric furnace with a diameter of 14 m was performed. In addition, a gas extraction system was designed to extract gases from the tapping holes. The capacity of this installation is 100.000 Nm3/h at 3000 Pa. These gases were connected to the post-combustion chamber by a nozzle below the gas burners, where the carbon monoxide was burned.
As part of the aftercombustion chamber cooling gas installation, a dust extraction system was installed in the area of loading trolleys for the electric furnace alloy additives. The capacity of this installation is 100,000 Nm3/h at 3000 Pa. These gases were connected to the aftercombustion chamber by a nozzle and by mixing with the afterburned gases they effectively lowered the temperature of the afterburned gases before the dust collector.
