New cargo deck
Keppel Norway commissioned NAVIC’s team to design and develop workshop documentation for the steel deck, which was installed on the main level of the Transocean Arctic Rig.
The designed deck was supported on several columns and raised to a height of 3m in order not to interfere with existing equipment and the escape route.
On the upper level of the structure (which was designed for the variable load of 1.5 tonnes / m2 from containers stored on it), removable manholes, guard-rails and steel bumpers were additionally installed to protect the elements surrounding the deck against accidental impact.
Access staircases have been provided to the upper level of the structure and an additional exit has been created as a possible second escape route required by Offshore regulations.
