Expertise on PZ and PE cooling systems with proposals for solutions
The client. with whom we cooperate, commissioned us to develop an expert opinion on the lower cooling circuit of the Slurry Furnace (PZ) and Electric Furnace (PE) in terms of the possibility of obtaining the operating reserve of the pump system. The expertise was to determine how to improve the efficiency and flexibility of the pumps in the cooling system feeding the PZ and PE circuits, including obtaining the operating reserve of pumping units.
The existing cooling system of the upper water circuit PZ and PE is based on a fan cooler consisting of three cells. During the warmest months, in order to effectively cool the water, it is necessary for all three cells to work – then, in the case of shutting down one of them (e.g. for the time of repair or failure) there is an increase in water temperature and the need to reduce production. The purpose of the expertise was to indicate a solution for obtaining reserve cooling of the upper circuit water during the summer period.
