Turbo-blower selection and design of its installation
The aim of the project was to select a blower that would supply compressed air to the converter furnaces and then to prepare technical documentation of its installation in all branches. The machine replaced the old uneconomic equipment. The project included analysis of the installation’s operation and measurement of compressed air flow on three pipelines.
On the basis of the recorded measurements from several days of the running installation, the parameters for the selection of the blower were established, including the necessary range of regulation. Based on the collected offers from potential equipment suppliers, economic analysis of the investment in terms of reducing energy consumption was made and best solution was proposed. After the final selection of the supplier by the Investor, the design of a single-stage radial blower produced by H.Cegielski S.A. with a capacity of 1.2 MW was made in all branches: systems, construction and electrical engineering. The project also included flow measurement system on three pipelines with compressed air.
The designed solution brought huge energy savings to the Investor – according to the measurements, the initial estimated annual savings on energy costs were over PLN 2 million.
