Pipelines design

NAVIC deals, among other things, with the comprehensive design of pipelines. In industry, piping systems are a system of pipes used to transport fluids (liquids and gases) from one location to another. The engineering branch of pipeline design examines the efficient transport of fluids, taking into account the economic factor as well as safety.

As part of the pipeline design work, NAVIC performs a number of tasks. The 3D modelling and piping arrangement allows for a holistic view of the project, which facilitates other work, such as hydraulic calculations and the selection of safety valves, as well as the preparation of heat and flow balances, preparation of pipe class specifications and strength and compensation calculations of pipelines (pipe stress analysis). In further stages of the work, our company provides expert supervision during prefabrication, construction and commissioning of the piping systems.

Our qualified specialists and engineers guide the client’s project through all stages – from feasibility studies to design and supervision of the execution work.

In our work we use specialist pipeline design software such as: Autocad Plant 3D, Inventor, Bentley Autopipe, Pressure Drop. As a result, we are able to create clear pipeline maps and useful visualisations. Importantly, NAVIC designs pipelines by adapting the customer’s material specifications and preparing specifications dedicated to a given task or installation.

Pipeline design – what kind of projects do we prepare?

NAVIC is involved in the design of various types of pipelines. Among them we can mention:

  • Process piping,
  • Industrial pipelines,
  • Steam and condensate pipelines,
  • Industrial gas pipelines,
  • Natural gas pipelines,
  • Drilling mud pipelines,
  • Boiler cooling circuit pipelines,
  • Chemicals pipelines,
  • Shipbuilding and drilling systems pipelines,
  • Dust collection pipelines.

All our projects comply with top-down rules, which is why NAVIC provides design services on the basis of the following standards and legislation:

  • 2014/68/EU – Pressure Directive
  • ASME B31.1 – Power piping
  • ASME B31.3 – Process piping
  • EN 13480 – Metallic industrial piping
  • WUDT-UC
  • EN 14161 – Oil and gas industry – Transport piping systems
  • EN 1594 – Gas infrastructure – Gas pipelines with a maximum operating pressure higher than 16 bar – Functional requirements
  • NORSOK

Pipeline design is one of the many tasks that NAVIC performs as part of its engineering design service. Our engineers also manage construction, execution and conceptual design projects, ensuring that the approach to our clients’ challenges is comprehensive and can be focused in one place.
